Facebook Promotion

I was scrolling through my mini-feed, on Facebook, today, when I came across a Coach photo album.

Coach had created a "look-book"-type promotion using Facebook and the photo album application. The look-book consisted of different products that Coach offers, from handbags to jewelry and accessories, placed in "life-like" situations.

This isn't the first time companies have used look-books to promote their products. As a customer it often helps to see a product on a person, styled different ways, rather than just the product by itself. However, since the exploding of social media use by companies and use in general, companies have been finding new ways to promote their brad and market their latest products using it.

The genius part of using Facebook and other social media sites to market your company and show your products, it that consumers already exist on social media. Millions and millions of people use social media everyday. You don't have to coax them to a website. So, even though a user may not be thinking about shopping or your brand, they can still stumble upon an item of yours, like it, and THEN decide to visit your website or store to make the purchase.

Also, using Facebook allows information (products, images, promotions, etc.) to spread like wildfire. Not everyone "likes" every company or brand on Facebook, but everyone is connected through "friends" somehow. All it takes if for someone to "like" or "comment" on a picture or post for the spreading to begin. Then, it can be hard to stop.

If your wondering; yes...I saw a handbag I liked. ;D
