Creating Relationships Digitally

To develop and gain long-term or life-time customers, companies need to create relationships. Customers want to know that they can trust a company and its ideas, goods, and services. Customers also often want to feel like they are important to the company.

In the digital age this idea has taken on an entire new meaning.

QVC, a home shopping channel, is a great example of how to create relationships with customers. QVC has embraced the internet and digital marketing using social media in addition to their website. QVC offers official Facebook and twitter pages in addition to many hosts creating Facebook and twitter page.

QVC's official facebook page and twitter account both promote the channel and website. Promotion through these mediums is done for all shows and promotions on QVC. This includes "hot picks," "today's special values," easy-pay, and discounted products. Friends and followers are also told of guests that are scheduled to appear on shows. These social media sites offer a platform for QVC consumers to interact with QVC efficiently and regularly as well as interact other customers and ask questions as well as discuss products.

QVC also has several host Facebook and twitter accounts. One example is David Venable (twitter). Host of several shows, including "In the Kitchen with David." He asks viewers and followers to interact with him through social media by sharing recipes, favorite meals and cooking-related ideas. Consumers can also ask David questions about products on air and online.

QVC also offers apps on androids and iPhones that make it easier for customers to interact with each other and make purchases.

It is through using digital marketing that companies, such as QVC, are able to connect with their customers to develop life-long relationships that are good for both the consumer and the company.
